Can I Use Pipe Tobacco to Roll My Own Cigarettes

Is it okay to use pipe Tobacco for cigarettes?

I'm sure this is a common question, but I am struggling to find any information to help me. I've got a small machine to make my own cigarettes, and I've been using pipe tobacco as where I live (Michigan) it is much cheaper then cigarette tobacco. I've noticed it doesn't burn as evenly, but it doesn't bother me much as it saves me quite a lot of money (200 cigarettes for nice dollars). Any help is greatly appreciated! Also, the tubes I roll with have filters, if it makes a difference.

Thanks!

The big bags of "pipe tobacco" you may be buying is in fact cigarette tobacco mislabeled as "pipe tobacco" to dodge taxes.

Most places I think it has to do with the thickness of the ribbon cut. "Pipe tobacco" in those huge bags is just thicker pieces of rolling tobacco.

well theres a popular anecdote that when offered a cigarette, esteemed pipe smoker Albert Einstein would break the cigarette in half and dump into his pipe bowl and enjoy away. Unlike cigarette tobacco, you are not getting processing chemicals, filler and bits. so basically you are smoking tobacco the old fashioned way.

See ive heard this told as Stalin instead of Einstein. Or it was more common behavior back then.

i used to roll up a mixture of stokkebye rolling tobacco (amsterdam shag) and a little bit of 1-Q. they were really good.

Honestly, if your getting "pipe tobacco" cheaper than RYO tobacco (by weight) then its probably RYO relabeled as pipe tobacco to dodge taxes.

OTC blends like Prince Albert and Half and Half were traditionally marketed as both our tobacco and cigarette tobacco.

I mean, I do it. I would just make sure it's a nice ribbon or shag cut or you'll have a hard time rolling. Also it might be rough to inhale unless you use an aro or tobacco generally known to not have a throat hit. If you don't dry it out you'll also get brown spots on the tubes.

A buddy of mine rolls up pipe tobacco but I've never tried myself.

One thing that you could try is cutting the pipe tobacco up finer. Maybe take a razor or knife and mince it. I've noticed pipe tobacco has a longer cut than cigarette, this could help you.

Find a blend with a high burley %in the mix or all burley. Then spread it out to dry for a bit. Some cheaper pipe tobaccos have casings with PG to keep it moist while it sits on the shelf.

I can also recommend Tabac Manil - Fleur de Semois (Fine cut), if you want to use it for rolling. However the pure burley is too strong for me. However, it burns very cool and it has insane amounts of smoke. Almost feels like vaping lol.

If you want t lighter version try to stick to unflavored Virginia blends. Although they tend to burn a lot more hot due to the high sugar content...
